What is the oak processionary caterpillar?

The oak processionary moth feeds and lives almost exclusively on oak trees. In spring and early summer the caterpillars nest on trunks and large branches of the oak tree. The Husqvarna DE range can be used to deal with oak processionary caterpillar nests quickly and efficiently. These dust extractors are equipped with an efficient filter system. The handy external collection bags (LongopacĀ®) guarentee that there is no contact between the caught caterpillars and the operator.

Entstauber - V1

Greater flexibility

With the long suction pipe of the Husqvarna dust extractor, there is a corresponding margin when fighting the oak processionary moth. With up to 20 metres of hose you have greater freedom of movement, the vacuum can remain on the ground while you work high in the trees.

Oak Processionary Caterpillar - DE lift

The integrated lifting eyes also ensure smooth transport. In conjunction with the low weight of max. 26 kg, it is easy to change location quickly and comply with the maximum basket load when working on lifting platforms.

Removal of the oak processionary moth

Compared to the other methods that use chemicals or burn the trees, the extraction method using a Husqvarna H-class dust extractor is an effective option for removal of the oak processionary moth. This helps prevent further drifting of the toxic hair and resulting hazard. In addition, disposal by suction leads to a population decline in the moth in the subsequent years.

Dust extractor longopac

The LongopacĀ® bag cassette system makes it easier to change the full dust collection bag without the operator coming into contact with dangerous contents such as the hair of the oak processionary moth.
